This work, measuring 2.4 meters in width, is the largest tableau painting I have created to date.
During a planning meeting for this solo exhibition, I walked from Tamachi Station to Pan to Espresso to. As I settled into my seat and let out a quiet sigh of relief, a “pink, gigantic snow mountain” appeared before my eyes like an illusion—and that is what I painted.
The contrast in texture between the city outside and the atmosphere of this café felt as if it were pulling me into a daydream. With this painting—larger than the human body—installed in the café space, I created it with the hope that it might envelop viewers and awaken a daydream-like sensation within them.
