I depict pigeons and flies as creatures that symbolize life in the city. The drawing began from photographs of pigeons and flies that I took myself, and from there I gradually blurred the boundary between reality and imagination. As I worked, I shifted elements little by little—the pigeons’ shadows became strangely distorted, and the flies’ heads started to resemble those of cicadas.
