Sho+1 is pleased to announce the solo exhibition “SKIPPED SECOND” by 1 Second Angel 9, held from Tuesday, December 2, 2025 through Saturday, January 17, 2026, in celebration of the publication of the artist’s first art book.
This exhibition presents an extraordinary body of work that captures those fleeting “one-second” moments and unfolds them into the world—an arresting sensibility that is given fresh significance through the milestone of the book’s release.
With the aim of making palpable the sensation of a soul drifting through another dimension in response to the body, our gallery invites you to experience this vision in situ.
We cordially invite you to view this unique realm of expression, and to engage your own senses in discovering the threshold of “another reality” that opens beyond that fragile membrane of one second.
We look forward to welcoming you to the gallery with all our hearts.

[Artist Statement]
I think of thought as a specimen of sensation.
What this book presents, however, is not the specimen, but the living intelligence that exists before sensation is preserved.
When I draw a single line on a blank canvas, I feel as though somewhere in the world, quietly, a new phenomenon appears in response.
It is this dialogue that I cherish.
What lies deep within consciousness—
what kind of trace does it leave on the invisible canvas of space?
And how does that canvas respond in return?
I simply look forward to discovering this exchange.
Its meaning does not always reveal itself right away.
Yet there are moments when, suddenly, like a revelation,
I feel, Now I understand.
This is not a reproduction from my mind,
nor a declaration of thought—
but a world that rises up at the touch of a single fleeting second.

“Skipped Second” — this is reality.

[For the Publication of the Art Catalogue]
Confronted with the work of 1 Second Angel 9, the viewer is drawn into a mental landscape where colors and forms interlace with striking intricacy, as though the artist’ s hand were guided by an unconscious impulse. The creative process appears to unfold in a manner akin to walking with eyes closed—without predetermined direction, yet with an uncanny sense of inevitability. Even in the act of titling her paintings, she seems to select abstract words as if receiving whispered intimations from the heavens, imbuing each work with a resonance that transcends description. Her practice resists straightforward interpretation. Rather than soliciting rational analysis, it presents itself as an intimate revelation—an unguarded outpouring of emotion that quietly insists on being felt rather than explained.
Cy Twombly (1928–2011), a leading postwar American artist, famously extended the painterly vocabulary by incorporating crayon, chalk, and collage into gestural fields of paint. His canvases, often inscribed with fragments of Greek mythology and ancient poetry, allowed letters and symbols to drift across the surface like currents of air. In a spirit that recalls Twombly’ s lyrical sensibility, 1 Second Angel 9 integrates mythic motifs into her compositions, her unrestrained and daring gestures opening a threshold to a realm where language yields to the immediacy of visual experience.

[1 Second Angel 9 PROFILE]
An enigmatic artist. In their creative practice, they explore elusive sensations, subtle presences, divine messengers and revelations, conspiracy and chaos, as well as redemption. Their works awaken profound emotions in the viewer and guide them into a realm of reversible reality.
