Kodai selected Artists by KAKUYA
May 24 — Jun 10, 2026
Studio Koda, a shared studio located in Toride City, Ibaraki Prefecture, is home to approximately 30 artists, each engaged in diverse creative activities.
For this exhibition, director KAKUYA has selected three artists from Studio Koda—Wataru Ozu, Takeshi Okumura, and Masahiro Masuda—to present a group exhibition.
Born in the same year, 1991, and hailing from the Tokai region, these three artists have nurtured their artistic expression within a similar environment and continue to share space and time on a daily basis as they create. However, their practices differ significantly. The acts of “drawing,” “printing,” and “peeling” each embody distinct relationships with paint and the support material, as well as a unique sense of time, imparting distinct textures to their works.
How do their artistic expressions diverge while they occupy the same space?
By presenting the three artists’ practices within a single space, this exhibition brings to light their differences, points of resonance, and the relationships that emerge spontaneously.
Furthermore, the fact that the works are being presented in Nagoya—a city with deep ties to all three artists—is a key element of the exhibition.
