Tokyo International Gallery (Shinagawa, Tennoz) is pleased to announce “SURFACE OF MOON LAKE” a solo exhibition by emerging artist, Ayami Yamaguchi.
Yamaguchi, a master's degree student at Kyoto University of Art, works by capturing that moment of interaction between form and color that occurs through gravity and contingency. She pursues a variety of expressive possibilities by considering color and light as the smallest unit and integrating the effects of light through pigments and mediums. In this exhibition, she presents three series of works: "Humidity," in which he creates forms by layering canvas over paint using the technique of decalcomania, which she has been working on since she was a student; "Attention," which combines forms that hang down due to gravity and circles created by tilting the support; and "Jamming," which depicts light interfering from the center with the relationship of colors. These series depict the dynamics of visual harmony and dissonance. Human vision is affected by light sources, which sometimes create visual noise and illusions. With an awareness of these characteristics of light, she creates a harmony or friction of colors on canvas.
