Yabiku Henrique Yudi “Tangerine Collapse in the Alley”
Jun 14 — Aug 3, 2025
rin art association MAEBASHI is pleased to present “Tangerine Collapse in the Alley,” a solo exhibition by Yabiku Henrique Yudi.
Yabiku Henrique Yudi was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and moved to Gunma Prefecture when he was in elementary school. After spending his adolescent years, he was exposed to Tokyo and was struck by the graphics and fonts of magazines he saw in old bookstores, which gave him a sense of connection between Tokyo and his present self, and his childhood (memories of the original landscapes) in Brazil.
His work consists of collages extracted from his own diverse experiences and memories, in which ordinary materials such as cardboard and staples are used as equivalents to fragments of his experiences, memories, and imaginary images.
Those works are associated with the connections and diversity of the world, with his clear intent to connect to the world and a reality that transcends time and space.
The flexible, reconfigurable works suggest the changing nature of the world, and his radical expressions, such as violence, which can sometimes be seen, create a sense of discomfort and distortion in the world, extracting the “beauty” that exists in an imperfect world.
He has collaborated with many fashion brands and provided his works to fashion magazines. We hope you will take this opportunity to view the new developments of Yabiku Henrique Yudi, who in recent years has been expanding his horizons by experimenting with new forms of fusion of objects, installations, art, and skate culture.
