KIMURA Taiyo　Galaxy I Sink / Virgo Self-Esteem Broadcast

Galerie Tokyo Humanité is pleased to announce KIMURA Taiyo's solo exhibition of new works entitled Galaxy I Sink / Virgo Self-Esteem Broadcast. Kimura uses various media, such as sculpture, installation and video, to create surrealistic works containing black humor. Suspicious figures faintly visible in the shadows inside houses, numerous mouths whispering in ears, coffins discharged from a gas mask, a large number of women’s eyes peeping through holes hollowed out of a magazine— Kimura’s works reveals uncomfortable feelings in casual daily life. Through his works, our habits or senses acquired unknowingly over the years become aware and unconscious mind is revealed while adverse reactions are provoked. In this exhibition, a new installation that weaves together various elements centered around Pandora’s Box will be exhibited along with new paintings and sculptures.

Kimura (b. 1970) started his career as an artist soon after he graduated from Sokei Academy of Fine Art and Design in Tokyo. His recent exhibitions include Dis/orient: Contemporary Art of the Asian Diaspora, 2025, Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, USA, International Animation Exhibition, 2016, Yinchuan Museum of Contemporary Art, China, and window display Guardian Angel -Taiyo Kimura, 2015, Ginza Maison Hermès, Tokyo among others.
