ADF (Aoyama Design Forum) is pleased to present the 44th edition of its “ADF Art Gallery Project,” featuring "i c m y," a solo exhibition by artist WAKANA, at GARDE Gallery from June 22 to July 6, 2026.

In this exhibition, WAKANA presents a new body of work exploring the ever-changing nature of emotions and human relationships over time.

The exhibition title, i c m y, refers to “unwavering colors.” Drawing a parallel between the three primary colors—Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow—and human existence, WAKANA reflects on how our encounters with others create new possibilities while at times blurring the boundaries of the self. Through balloon motifs and vivid painterly expressions, the artist explores the enduring presence of the individual within a constantly changing world.

An opening reception will be held on Monday, June 22, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. We warmly welcome you to join us.

WAKANA
Born in 1998 in Chigasaki, Kanagawa, WAKANA began her artistic practice in 2022.
Her paintings explore the gradual transformation of emotions that remain unspoken and linger within the self. Focusing on the relationship between time, memory, and human connection, she captures the moments where emotions quietly shift and evolve.

In recent years, WAKANA has employed balloons as a recurring motif to examine the subtle distances and relationships between people. Just as the appearance of a balloon changes through light, overlap, and proximity to others, human beings are also shaped by the people and environments around them. Through her work, she reflects on the ever-changing contours of the self formed through these connections.
